Description : "The ""Atlantic Territorial Information Mobile System -SMITA-"" is an European project based on mobile and wireless information technologies that has as a main action the creation and development of integrated mobile communication tools in a common platform for tourist and regional information, as well as the creation of tools for the management of the same. Develop a territorial information system based on Mobile devices and web technologies. Implicate the local actors in its design and use. Design applications for tourist and cultural information by making use of NICTs. The main planned actios are the following ones:
Develop the work plan and the organisational structure.
Design and development of the information system
Development of local consortiums, and identification of synergies.
Dissemination of the project results. User manuals and quality control.
The objective of the project is to use mobile communication technology
applications (Web, WAP, SMS/MMS, Java applications, WiFi networks, etc)
and wireless communication technologies to facilitate access to a completsystem of regional information for visitors and locals and promote tourism and culture in partner’s regions. This project is headed by Grande Área Metropolitana do Algarve -GAMAL- (Portugal). Other partners are Diputación provincial de Huelva (Spain), Junta de Andalucía (Spain), ORT Toulouse (France), Office du Tourisme de l’Entre-deux-Mers (France), The European Regions Network for the Application of Communication Technology (Ireland), International Center for Digital Content (United Kingdom) and Sociedad de Desarrollo de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain)."
